The Blizzard of 2026 hit the Northeastern United States on Monday, February 23rd. Setting an all-time high for snowfall in Rhode Island, the storm touched at least 9 different states. Providence, Rhode Island took the brunt of the snowfall, registering 37.9 inches of snow in less than 24 hours.

Previously, the largest snowfall in Rhode Island history was the Blizzard of ‘78. The record stood for 48 years. The record breaking snowstorm left most of New England in serious clean-up mode for days on end. Many people were without power and unplowed streets.
